How do I activate, download, and play my games on Steam?

After installing the Steam Client and creating and logging into a Steam account, you can activate your games. Once a game is activated on a Steam account, it cannot be activated on another Steam account, but is linked to that Steam account. If you want to install and play your games on another computer, just download Steam on that computer, sign in to your Steam account, and download the game.

Method 1: Activate from your Fanatical account [the quickest if you are logged in to your Fanatical account]

• 1. From your Fanatical.com account, click on “Your Account” in the top right corner of our website, then click on “Order History and Keys.”
  2. Find the order with the key you want to redeem and click on “View order and keys” to open it.
  3. Find the individual game you want to activate from this order and click ‘Reveal Key’. The key for the order will be unlocked and displayed on the screen.
  4. Click “Redeem” and you will be taken to Steam to redeem your key.

Method 3: Use the Steam game client to activate your key.

Make sure you have the Steam Game Client installed on your Windows PC or Mac. You’ll need this to download the game after the key has been activated, so if Steam isn’t installed and you need help, click here to read this “How to Install Steam” article.
1. Start Steam and click on the [+] at the bottom left and choose “Activate a game on Steam”. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter your product key when prompted. The game will then be added to your game library. 3. Follow the “Download and install my game” advice below.

  1. In Windows, click START or the Windows flag at the bottom left of the screen.
     Type STEAM and then choose Steam from the list.
  2. On the Mac, hold down the Command button and tap Space.

• Choose the game you want to install and click on it.
• Choose ‘Install’ to install the game.
• Follow the instructions on the screen.

 How do I play my game?

 Once a game has been downloaded, use the Steam Client to play the game.
